STCW-95 Training
Any commercial master or crew member that has responsiblility for the safety of a vessel or the safety of passengers has to be qualified to a basic level of compitency. The current gold standard is the Standards of Training and Certification for Watchkeepers 1995 (STCW-95) this includes four basic compitences wich are listed below. STCW-95 Elementary First Aid Course
This course requires no prior medical care/first aid knowledge the course includes basic airway maintainance, CPR, coping with basic clinical conditions, orthapeidic imobilisation and spinal trauma care including the use of spanal management equipment.

STCW-95 Personal Survival Techniques
This course requires no prior sea survival training but completing the Elementary First Aid course prior to this course would be advantageous. The course includes both theory and practical elements including the medical aspects of sea survival, use of liferafts, lifejackets,Mass Evacuation Systems, Rapid Evacuation Systems and immersion suits.

STCW-95 Personal Safety and Social Responsibilty
This course covers the aspects of safety aboard ship including responses to general alarms and other emergency situatuions, how to work safely in what is often a multi cultural environment and the behaviour of personel and passengers in emergency situations.

STCW-95 Basic Fire fighting and Fire Prevention
This three day course is held at a dedicated fire training ground. The course includes the prevention and detection of fires onboard ship and the use of fire extinguishers, fire blankets and other basic equipment in the fighting of fires. The course then moves on to the use of hoses, AFFF Foam and breathing aparatus to fight Fire.

STCW-95 Basic Training Package
If you have no prior STCW-95 qualifications and require them then this is the course you need. All four of the elements roled into a six day intensive programme which upon successful completion will give you all the basic training you require to work on either a superyacht, merchant or fishing vessel.
